About Our Church

Northside Bible Fellowship History

On February 5, 1999, “Northside Bible Fellowship” was born out of the amalgamation of two non-pastored New Testament church assemblies…”The Properties Christian Assembly” and “North Hill Gospel Hall”. “North Hill Gospel Hall” owned a building but had a declining congregation while “Properties Christian Assembly” had a larger congregation but met for services in a rented facility. As one church assembly reached out to the other, Our Lord guided us in establishing common ground and a vibrant union was formed under the new name “Northside Bible Fellowship” to declare the Gospel and “preaching peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all)”!  (Romans 10:12)

Shortly after 1999 several members of the “Berea Bible Chapel” “Bowwaters Chapel”  and “Bethany Chapel” also joined to expand the diversity of membership and the unity of the believers at Northside.

The facility was built and opened in 1962 with about 100 members attending. On December 13, 1973, a severe fire resulted in extensive damage to the Northeast section of the building that took three fire pumper truck units, an aerial unit, 16 firefighters and seven officers to extinguish the blaze.

Through the years Northside has been subject to the ebb and flow of congregational growth and we are currently a smaller New Testament Church. We warmly welcome you to join us to be challenged in a smaller church and to realize and grow the gift that God has placed in your life.

Keeping
the Faith

Northside is a diverse community of Christians founded on the assurance that we are loved by God. We have often been described as a very friendly congregation, where members are encouraged to get involved in church life and ministry.

There are many aspects to Northside Bible Fellowship that would be difficult to encapsulate in a website. However, the following are some core tenets that we hold to:

We cherish the Bible; it is the complete and reliable revelation of God to humankind, relevant to our life and future.

We follow Jesus Christ; He, as both God and man stepped into human history dealing decisively with our issues of purpose, sin, and death.

We trust that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and He, by rising from the dead, gives eternal life to all who believe in Him.

We love people; each person is uniquely created in the image and likeness of God, is to be highly valued, and will exist forever.

We believe our ultimate goal is to bring glory to God and to enjoy Him forever.

We are committed to applying the principles from the life of Jesus and from the Bible, as a whole, to our everyday lives.

Our purpose, in the words of Jesus, is to 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind...and to love your neighbour as yourself'.
